Security Health Plan is one of the largest health maintenance organizations in Wisconsin. It is a not-for-profit medical plan that belongs to the Marshfield Health Clinic System and serves roughly 230,000 people.

Plans include wellness resources, a nursing hotline, and worldwide emergency care. Those requiring financial assistance can choose an affordable HMO plan through the BadgerCare Plus program.

Employers have a choice of HMO, EPO, and POS plans for small businesses and HMO or POS plans for larger companies. There is also an indemnity option available to employers of any size.

Security Health Plan offers Medicare supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans with or without Part D prescription drug coverage. Security also offers a Wisconsin State employee plan. Security Health Plan members have access to a network of doctors in 41 counties.

Security Health Plan of Wisconsin began as the Greater Marshfield Community Health Plan in 1971. It later became Security Health Plan in 1986. The Marshfield Health Clinic System was started by a group of physicians in 1916 under the name Marshfield Clinic. Today it is one of the biggest private group medical practices in the country, with physicians in 86 medical specialty areas. In the categories of health insurance plan rankings, Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, Security Health Plan was scored in the top 10 percent by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for 2014-2015. Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation and Marshfield Clinic Education Foundation conduct clinical research and education programs.
